Piano lessons in Montreal
Hello and welcome to the web page of my Montreal piano studio. For over 15 years I have been helping adults and children achieve their goals at the piano.
I am a graduate of Toronto’s Glenn Gould School and l’Université de Montréal, where I completed my doctorate in piano performance in 2014. I have taught piano at the university level as well as for 6 years at l’École de musique Vincent-d’Indy.
Alongside my classical training I have also played and explored jazz, pop and folk styles. This allows me to guide students according to their unique interests. Whether the goal is to play Bach, Einaudi, or anything in between, we will work on understanding the theory behind the music and discovering how it speaks to our emotions the way it does.
Technique, as I teach it, refers to your physical approach to the piano in whatever music you play. Boring exercises are not required! My approach favours efficiency, physical freedom and injury prevention, and is informed by The Alexander Technique as well as my own experience recovering from a repetitive strain injury.
Choosing the right music makes all the difference, and this is one of my favourite parts of teaching piano. I want you to thoroughly enjoy playing while making steady progress toward your long term goals.
I have experience preparing students for university auditions and conservatory exams through a variety of institutions.
